Description

The COSWHEEL T20 is an electric fat bike designed for active cyclists seeking versatility, robustness and style. With its 1000W rear brushless motor (rated power) with 1500W peak, it delivers high performance, equally suited to urban commuting and off-road exploration. Its removable 48V 20Ah battery (960 Wh) provides range up to 113 km in pedal-assist mode (PAS class 1) and 64 km in throttle-only mode (class 2).

The T20 stands out with its hydroformed 6061-T6 aluminium alloy frame with triple-wall design, waterproof and hardwearing, plus 20-inch front suspension with 80mm travel damper, which effectively absorbs shocks on all terrain types. Its Chaoyang Sunny Road 20 x 4 inch tyres provide optimal grip on snow, sand, mud or rough roads, whilst reducing rolling noise.

For safety, it features dual-piston hydraulic brakes with 180mm stainless steel discs for powerful and progressive braking, plus front and rear LED lights for maximum visibility day and night. The easy-to-read LCD screen displays essential data (speed, battery level, PAS level, etc.) and the bike is compatible with a thumb throttle for intuitive riding.

The T20 also boasts a Shimano 7-speed derailleur to handle all gradients, height-adjustable saddle (35.8 inches / 91 cm) for personalised comfort, and wide handlebars (65 cm) for optimal manoeuvrability. Its 40 kg weight (with battery) and 150 kg maximum load capacity make it suitable for riders of all sizes (170 to 203 cm).

Who is this bike for?

This model is particularly suited to:

  • Commuting in town or suburbs
  • Deliveries or goods transportation
  • Family rides (compatible with child seat)
  • Long distances on trails, forests or varied terrain
  • Cyclists seeking a versatile, robust and stylish bike

Performance and range

The COSWHEEL T20 comes as standard in class 2/3 configuration (pedal-assist + throttle), with maximum 45 km/h speed in unrestricted mode (outside EU compliance). In Europe, it's limited to 25 km/h from factory to comply with regulations, but can be unrestricted upon request.

Range as stated by manufacturer:

  • Up to 113 km in pedal-assist mode (PAS class 1)
  • 64 km in throttle-only mode (class 2)

In real-world conditions, range depends on numerous factors:

  • Rider weight and cargo load
  • Assist mode used (3 levels available)
  • Terrain type (flat, uphill, off-road)
  • Frequency of accelerations and throttle use

The 48V 20Ah battery (18650 lithium cells) recharges in 3.5 to 8 hours with the supplied 48V 3A charger. It's removable and lockable for optimal security.

Strengths

✔ Powerful motor (1000W rated / 1500W peak) for high performance
✔ Exceptional range (up to 113 km in PAS)
✔ Front suspension for optimal comfort on all terrain
✔ Dual-piston hydraulic brakes for safe, effective stopping
✔ 20 x 4 inch tyres for maximum grip
✔ Aerospace-grade aluminium frame, waterproof and ultra-durable
✔ Clear, comprehensive LCD screen
✔ Thumb throttle for intuitive riding
✔ 150 kg maximum load, ideal for carrying equipment
✔ Elegant, timeless design, patented

Weaknesses

❌ Heavy weight (40 kg with battery), impractical for manual transport
❌ Ambiguous EU approval: limited to 25 km/h and 250W in Europe, but can be unrestricted (check local regulations)
❌ Long charging time (up to 8 hours)
❌ Large footprint (180 x 65 x 115 cm), unsuitable for small storage spaces
❌ High price for a non-approved road bike in standard form

Comparison and positioning

The COSWHEEL T20 positions itself as a premium electric fat bike, ideal for demanding cyclists seeking versatility, range and durability. It rivals models like the Samebike LO26 or Shengmilo MX03, but stands out with its patent-pending design, powerful motor and value for money (€1299 instead of €1699).

Note: Coswheel offers bikes with varying power and maximum speeds depending on market. In Europe, the T20 is capped at 25 km/h and 250W to comply with regulations, but can be unrestricted to reach 45 km/h and 1500W. The lack of clear choice between an approved road version and an off-road version at purchase may raise questions. We recommend verifying model compliance with local regulations before purchase, especially if you intend to use it on public roads.

This bike is primarily designed for off-road use or cycle paths, not standard road riding in Europe without modification.
